Michael Jackson's Birthday Celebration in Gary with his children, mother, fans

The City of Ga ry is set to support a series of event to Celebrate Michael Jackson's Birthday, which will be attended by Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine and his three children Prince, Paris and Blanket. The series of events is named “Goin’ Back to Indiana: Can You Feel It” and takes place from August, 29 to September, 1, open to the public.

Here the schedule of events:

Wednesday, August, 29 

Candlelight Tribute Ceremony

3 p.m.: Press conference with Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson's children at Majestic Star Casino, 1 Buffington Harbor Dr. (219) 977-7777.

8 p.m.: Gary Indiana City Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will present remarks at a Candlelight Tribute Ceremony remembering the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Held at the Jackson Family childhood home, 2300 Jackson Street, Gary, Indiana the event will feature a musical performance by The Gratitude Project performing “Dear Michael,” a moment of remembrance/prayer service and a candlelight tribute to Michael Jackson. Fans are invited to place ribbons and flowers at the house and sign a commemorative billboard poster. From 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m., fans and guests 21 and older are invited to the Official After Event @ Lakeshore Lounge at the Majestic Star Casino and Hotel.

9 p.m.: After party at Majestic Star Casino’s Lakeshore Lounge. The party includes open-mic tribute performances from those who won the chance for a 10-minute slot. Attendees must be 21.

Thursday, August, 30

Gary SouthShore RailCats Tribute Night Featuring Appearance by Jackson Children

7:10 p.m.: Michael Jackson’s children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, will be guests of honor at the Gary SouthShore RailCats baseball team’s special tribute night remembering their dad. The game will feature a musical tribute by The Gratitude Project, ceremonial ball toss, presentation of team uniform and video presentation moment of remembrance.

From 9:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m., fans and guests 21 and older are invited to the Official After Event @ Lakeshore Lounge at the Majestic Star Casino and Hotel.

Gary South Shore Railcats join in the Michael Jackson Tribute weekend with Michael’s children throwing out the first pitch. The RailCats will recognize their father with a musical performance by The Gratitude Project and a moment of remembrance. The Jackson children will be presented with honorary team uniforms. Tickets start at $7 and are available at railcatsbaseball.com.

9 p.m.: After party at Majestic Star Casino’s Lakeshore Lounge

The Majestic Star Casinos & Hotel will serve as the official hotel for the event. On both Wednesday, August 29 and Thursday, August 30, the Majestic Star will host the official “Goin’ Back to Indiana” after event in its Lakeshore Lounge from 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. with Jackson-themed music and drink specials. Friday, August, 31 

Mayor’s Reception for Katherine Jackson

Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will host a tribute dinner reception honoring Mrs. Katherine Jackson at the Majestic Star Pavilion. Presented by the Gary Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature a musical tribute by The Gratitude Project and a special presentation to Mrs. Jackson. Michael Jackson Tribute Concert

4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.: Tribute performers along with “The Gratitude Project” will present a concert featuring a musical salute to the King of Pop at the West Side Theatre Guild, West Side High School900 Gerry Street, Gary, IN at 7:30p.m. The event will include special guest appearances. It will have a matinee performance at 4:00 p.m. and an evening performance at 7:30 p.m. Both performances will be followed by a cast meet & greet. Tickets are $25 matinee and $35 evening and $50 for VIP Gold Circle seating and cast meet & greet. The event will also be streamed live. Also, the Gratitude Project, is set to perform their original composition “Dear Michael.” Tickets are $25 matinee, $35 evening and $50 VIP seating.
