Murray's baby mama, Nicole Alvarez, testifies - Day 6 -
Nicole Alvarez, Murray's girlfriend and baby mama, took the stand this morning.
Prosecution questioned Alvarez on Murray's $150K-a-month salary, but Alvarez denied knowing anything about it until it hit the media.
Prosecutor Deborah Brazil contested Alvarez some of her previous testimony in which Alvarez admitted to knowing about Murray's salary long before news broke about it.
Alvarez claimed her memory might be a little fuzzy.
Alvarez said she met Murray at a Vegas club in 2005. They began dating a few months later. She gave birth to his son in 2009.
She told the court she first met the King of Pop in 2008. She saw him again 2 or 3 times after the baby was born saying Michael was interested in the baby and wanted to arrange visits so he could see him.
She testified she frequently signed for packages delivered to her Santa Monica apartment, later known to contain Propofol, but claimed she never opened them and didn't know what was in them.
Alvarez began her testimony by smiling and making grimaces. When she described meeting Michael Jackson for the first time, she even called him 'Michael' as if she had been one of his friend although she is just Murray's baby mama. "I first met him in 2008. It was a surprise and I was speechless. Michael was very excited about the pregnancy. He wanted to schedule visits so he could see my son and I went to see him one of two times during the day and once in the evening," according to her testimony over the top.
She then went on saying "As a professional actress, my daily duties consist of maintaining my instrument, going on several castings throughout town, meeting with several different casting directors... acting is a little bit different than a '9-to-5,' it's a little different, she said on the stand.
"Let me stop you and ask you another question. When you referred to an 'instrument,' what are you referring to?" Deputy District Attorney Deborah Brazil asked. "Myself. Myself. As an actor, your instrument is yourself," Alvarez responded, still smiling.
Alvarez said she received a phone call from Murray as he rode in an ambulance with Jackson. "I remember him telling me that he was on the way to the hospital in an ambulance with Mr. Jackson and not to be alarmed," Alvarez said. "He was worried I would hear about it."
Alvarez was one of four women called to the stand by prosecutors to account for phone calls that Murray made on June 25, 2009. Prosecutors are arguing that Murray was so distracted while juggling his medical practice, personal life and the fact he was Michael Jackson's doctor that he failed to give him proper care.
